Document: Police Arrest Suspect in Arson Homicide

The Metropolitan Police Department arrested a suspect May 19 who is connected to an arson death on May 13.

According to a press release, officers charged 25-year-old D’Aundrey Scott with first-degree murder for allegedly starting a fire on the 900 block of H Street, NE that killed 62-year-old Darryl Finney.

Scott is also charged for additional fires that occurred on the same day.

He is being charged with assault with the intent to kill by arson for allegedly igniting a cloth and throwing it on a victim on the 1300 block of H Street, NE. Scott is also charged with destruction of property for allegedly setting an automobile on fire on the 1300 block of Florida Avenue, NE.

Police also charged him with arson for allegedly pouring a flammable liquid and igniting it outside of a residence on the 1400 block of Monroe Street, NE and allegedly setting a fire to a structure on the 1400 block of Morse Street, NE.
