This case was acquitted on Dec. 1, 2023.
On August 7, Saphire Johnson rejected a plea offer in a hearing before DC Superior Court Judge Andrea Hertzfeld.
Johnson, 23, is being charged with one count of aggravated assault while armed and one count of carrying a pistol without a license for her alleged involvement in a non-fatal shooting on the 4100 block of Alabama Avenue SE, on June 28.
The deal offered by prosecutors would have required to Johnson plead guilty to both counts while obeying a stay-away order from the victim.
Judge Hertzfeld confirmed Johnson understood the offer but decided to reject it.
Johnson’s trial is slated to begin on November 14.
