Emily Carrillo is a fourth-year student at the University of California, Irvine, double majoring in Criminology, Law, and Society and Psychological Science. She is thrilled to join D.C. Witness to contribute to its mission of increasing transparency in the criminal justice system by reporting on cases that often go overlooked. Emily hopes to use this experience to deepen her understanding of the justice system, prepare for law school, and enhance her future career in law and advocacy.
