The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) announced the recovery of 62 illegal firearms in Washington, D.C., from Feb 17 to Feb 24, 2025. Among the notable recoveries, J’Nelah Mercer, 31, was arrested for multiple firearm-related charges, and a 16-year-old male was apprehended for armed carjacking and other offenses. The MPD continues its efforts to remove illegal firearms from the streets, working alongside specialized units and community members to enhance public safety.
