A homicide defendant pleaded not guilty to eight charges against him at a felony arraignment before DC Superior Court Judge Todd Edelman on Sept. 18.
Alan Wilson, 23, is charged with two counts of first-degree murder while armed, three counts of possession of firearm during crime of violence, robbery while armed, unlawful possession of a firearm with a prior crime of violence, and carrying a pistol without licence outside home or business.
The charges stem from his alleged involvement in the shooting of 27-year-old Jermaine McGhee-Holmes on Oct. 25, 2025 in the Columbia Heights neighborhood, on the 3200 block of Hiatt Place, NW. McGhee-Holmes sustained gunshot wounds to his right ear, neck, chest, and died from his injuries on Oct. 27, 2025.
At the hearing, the court arraigned Wilson on the charges against him and he pleaded not guilty to all counts.
Judge Edelman then noted a breakdown in communication between Wilson and defense counsel Karen Minor, who requested to withdraw from the case. The judge agreed to Wilson’s request for new counsel.
The parties are slated to reconvene on Oct. 9.
