Police Search for Suspects for 17 Crimes in DC

Officers from the Metropolitan Police Department are looking for suspects connected to 17 crimes throughout Washington, DC from April 22-May 16. 

According to press releases sent by the MPD, officers are looking to locate and identify suspects in connection to the following crimes:

Homicide

A suspect is being sought for an arson-related homicide on the 900 block of H Street, NW on May 13. According to a press release, 62-year-old Darryl Finney suffered from injuries related to the fire and died two days later on May 15. 

Arson

The suspect is also being wanted for arson-related offense thatoccurred during the early morning hours of May 13. According to a press release, at 12:22 a.m., a suspect allegedly lit a cloth on fire and threw it at a victim on the 1300 block of H Street, NE. 

  • At 1:05 a.m., police also responded to a car fire on the 1300 block of Florida Avenue, NE.
  • At 1:25 a.m., the suspect is also wanted for pouring flammable liquid in a residence and lit it on fire at the 1400 block of Morse Street, NE. The suspect left the scene. 

There were no injuries reported in the other three arson offenses. 

Burglary Two

Police are searching for suspects who stole property from a business located at the 3900 block of Chesapeake Street, NW on May 4. 

Police are also trying to locate identify and locate a suspect who took property from a business located on the 1000 block of H Street, NW. 

Assault

Police notified the public that they were looking for a suspect in assault with a dangerous weapon (gun) offense and an attempted robbery of an establishment offense that occurred on May 12 at the 600 block of Alabama Avenue, SE. According to a press release, the suspect approached a victim and demanded money. The victim did not comply and the suspect allegedly struck the victim with the handgun and left the scene.

On April 22, officers responded to the 2700 block of Wade Road, SE for gunshot sounds. Police found evidence that the suspect allegedly shot at the victim. There were no injuries. 

On May 13, a suspect refused to pay for goods at a store on the 2800 block of Bladensburg Road, NE. When attempting to leave, a store worker confronted the suspect. The suspect allegedly pulled a knife, threatened the store worker, and then left.

The police are also requesting the public’s help in locating and identifying a suspect connected to an assault with a dangerous weapon offense on May 16 on the 400 block of L Street, NW. A press release states that during a verbal argument, the suspect stabbed the victim. The victim received treatment for non-life threatening injuries. 

Armed Carjacking

In an attempt to locate suspects, the MPD released flyers in connection to an armed carjacking on May 9. According to a press release, the suspects used a gun to demand a victim hand over their car on the 1000 block of 3rd Street, SE. 

The suspects are also connected to an attempted carjacking on the 400 block of M Street, SW. According to a press release, the victim drove away in the vehicle when the suspects pulled a gun to acquire it. 

Police also updated a flyer in their search for suspects in an unarmed carjacking on the 5700 block of Georgia Avenue, NW. Police were able to arrest a17-year-old juvenile in the case, but are looking for additional suspects. 

Robbery

Police are searching for suspects who are connected to a robbery offense on the 2300 block of Georgia Avenue, NW on May 16. Apparently, the suspects snatched a victim’s property and fled the scene on a scooter. 

Police are also looking for a suspect connected to a robbery on the 1900 block of Vermont Avenue, NW on May 16. The suspect approached a victim, snatched their property and fled the scene, according to a press release. 

Suspects are also be sought for a robbery by gunpoint on the 4300 block of Military Road, NW on May 16. 

Police also released an updated flyer for a suspect wanted in connection to an attempted robbery on April 27 on the 700 block of Chesapeake Street, SE.
