Fewer Inmates Testing Positive for COVID-19 at DC Jail

Fewer inmates are testing positive for the COVID-19 virus at the DC Jail.

According to press releases sent on May 19, 18 and 17, there have only been four new positive coronavirus cases at the jail. The inmates are all male and were housed in the jail’s central detention facility and the correctional treatment facility.

The number of new cases is being compared to the four positive tests reported by the DC Department of Corrections on May 15, and the 13 new cases reported on May 11.

There were no new positive COVID-19 cases reported on May 16, 14, 13 and 12.

The number of inmates in isolation hovered around 28 on May 17 and May 18, but, as of May 19, the number decreased to 15 inmates.

The department also stated that 165 inmates have recovered from coronavirus-related illnesses and returned to the jail’s general population.
