Defendant Awaiting Sentencing Remains Released

As DC Superior Court judge allowed a defendant to remain released with added on conditions after he failed to comply.

Tumarcus Hawkins was charged with carrying a pistol without a license outside a home or business, possessing a large capacity ammunition feeding device, possessing an unregistered firearm and unlawfully possessing ammunition. Three of the four charges were dismissed as part of his plea agreement with the prosecution.

On June 9, Judge Rainey Brandt added GPS monitoring to Hawkins release conditions.

Hawkins, who is awaiting sentencing, was found to be noncompliant with his release conditions and brought back to court. The specifics to what Hawkins was not compliant with are unclear.

Hawkins has a history of not being compliant with his conditions, according to DC Courts.

Judge Brandt admonished Hawkins to comply with instructions. He is ordered to appear virtually at his next hearing, which is scheduled for Sept. 2.
