On the evening of June 8, a pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle on the 7000 block of Piney Branch Road, NW.
Officers with the Metropolitan Police Department identified the victim as Timothy Abbott, 21, who was a resident of Northwest, DC.
A DC police spokeswoman told the Washington Post that Abbot was struck in a crosswalk.
The spokeswoman also said the driver stopped and waited for the police to arrive. When Emergency Medical Services arrived on the scene, Abbot was pronounced dead.
The crash remains under investigation.
