A DC Superior Court judge heard 23 presentment hearings on June 10, releasing 17 defendants and holding six.

DC Superior Court Judge Rainey Brandt heard an array of different charges, including carjacking, theft and assault.

Bradley Middleton, charged with possessing a prohibited weapon and assault with a dangerous weapon, and Daquan Carson, charged with first-degree burglary, were among those Brandt chose to hold.

Some defendants appeared virtually before the court due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The hearings were interrupted by some technical difficulties but court and jail staff were able to resolve them..
