Over the weekend, a DC Superior Court judge released 18 defendants and held two defendants at DC Jail during initial hearings.

Dimitri Selikhov is charged with carrying a pistol without a license outside of a home or business. Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) officers were patrolling the 1800 block of Corcoran Street, NE when they spotted a blue Honda CRV that had been reported as stolen. Selikhov, 21, was seen standing in front of the car with the engine running.

After officers confronted Selikhov, he fled on foot before being stopped and arrested. The officers reported that he had reached for his waistband while resisting arrest. They found the pistol on the ground near the incident.

He is being held at DC Jail.

John Kennedy, 42, is charged with prison breach from an incident that occurred on April 11 where he escaped a halfway house without authorization. Due to a prior conviction, he was ordered to report to a halfway house to which he stayed at for one week before leaving.

The defense argued that his record only contained one prior conviction and no felonies but Judge Judith Pipe decided that Kennedy be held at DC Jail without bond.

Seven defendants charged in domestic violence cases were released by Judge Pipe. Their charges include assault with a dangerous weapon, simple assault, threats to kidnap or injure a person and attempted possession of a prohibited weapon. All defendants were given stay away orders in relation to the alleged victims, and one defendant was also given orders to seek drug and alcohol treatment.

Judge Pipe released four defendants with misdemeanor charges. The charges include tampering with GPS monitoring devices, unlawful entry of private property and a Bail Reform Act (BRA) violation for failing to appear. One of the defendants is also charged with being a fugitive from justice, where he is wanted in Maryland for cocaine possession. He was released with the order to take care of the outstanding warrant.

Two additional defendants are charged with being fugitives from justice, where one is wanted in Maryland for larceny and the other is wanted in Pennsylvania for a probation violation.

In relation to a destruction of property charge that occurred on Nov. 11, a male defendant was also charged with the possession of a BB gun at the time of the prior charge. A verbal altercation started on the 1200 block of Queen Street causing the defendant to threaten the victim and proceeded to display a black handgun located on the right side of his pants. When police arrived, he verbally confirmed his name and that the BB gun was located in his fanny pack that he wore across his chest.

The defendant was released under the terms that he does not possess any sort of imitation firearm.

Judge Pipe released three defendants charged with carrying a pistol without a license outside of a home or business. One of the defendants is additionally charged with possession of a large capacity ammunition feeding device.

Finally, Judge Pipe released a defendant who is charged with second degree burglary from an offense that occurred on Jan. 13, 2018. Police responded to a call after a witness had heard a glass window shatter. The defendant allegedly used a rock to gain entrance into the home and is accused of stealing numerous pieces of jewelry and electronic devices.

The prosecution stated that he had multiple criminal convictions in the past, many of which occurred in the 90s, as well as an outstanding warrant in Arizona. However, his last conviction was in 2013.

The defense argued that the defendant had been on supervision in 2018 within DC and that he finished it successfully. Judge Pipe released the defendant and ordered that he stay away from the 300 block of K Street, NW.
