Murder Defendant Fails to Appear for Hearing

During a status hearing on Nov 19, a murder defendant was not present. Dazmine Anderson is charged with second-degree murder while armed for allegedly stabbing 30-year-old Jean-Claude Jackson on the 1300 block of Good Hope Road, SE on Oct. 7, 2018. Anderson, who was 16 at the time of the crime, is being charged as an adult. Anderson’s defense Attorney, Madalyn Harvey , told DC Superior Court Judge Milton Lee that Anderson would not be present due to a lack of information to Anderson’s holding facility, New Beginnings. New Beginnings is a maryland-based juvenile facility where Anderson is being held. The facility was not aware of Anderson’s hearing which resulted in his absence.
