Police have charged a man with murder for the alleged shooting death of James Dorsey Jr. outside a 7-Eleven last week.

Shawn James Brown, 28, was arrested and charged with second-degree murder on New Year’s Eve, according to police. Police allege Brown, another man, and Dorsey were arguing outside the convenience store on the 200 block of Cedar St. NW, when Dorsey was shot and killed.

Brown was presented in D.C. Superior Court on Monday and was ordered held. He is next due to appear in court on Jan. 26.

Previously, police released surveillance footage seeking to identify two men involved in the argument with Dorsey.
