A man who shot and killed another after a fight outside a Chinese restaurant was sentenced to 21 years in jail.

Clifton Johnson, 27, was found guilty of second-degree murder for shooting Dwayne Grandson. Johnson was sentenced to 16 years for shooting Johnson, and five years for gun charges.

During the trial, Johnson’s attorney argued that while both men were carrying guns on the night of the murder, Johnson was not the aggressor. He said his client was guilty of carrying a weapon, but not of murder. During the fight, both Johnson and Grandson were shot, but witnesses described Johnson as the one who initiated the altercation.

A jury found Johnson guilty in May 2017.
