Sutton was acquitted of murder and possession of a firearm during a crime of violence on March 23, 2023.
A DC Superior Court judge rescheduled a murder defendant’s trial to begin at an earlier date.
Kaevon Sutton is charged with first-degree murder while armed in the shooting of 22-year-old Aujee Tyler on March 19, 2018, on the 3500 block of Stanton Road, SE.
Back in March, Sutton was scheduled to go before a jury in December 2022. But during the Aug. 17 hearing, the defense requested an earlier trial date.
Judge Rainey Brandt agreed to the request, setting aside June 13 through July 1, 2022, for the trial.
Sutton is also charged with possession of a firearm during a crime of violence and carrying a pistol without a license in this case.
