A DC Superior Court judge set a bond review hearing for a sex abuse defendant seeking pretrial release.
The defendant is charged with first-degree sexual abuse for allegedly sexually assaulting a woman on April 3 in his Southeast, DC, home, where, according to court documents, they were awaiting the release of two friends who had been arrested for simple assault that evening.
During the Sept. 2 hearing, defense attorney David Benowitz said he wants his 34-year-old client released into the High Intensity Supervision Program (HISP). In a recent motion, Benowitz stated that the defendant has people with whom he can stay in DC and Pennsylvania, and has employment offers in both locations.
Judge Milton Lee scheduled the bond review hearing for Sept. 7.
