Cinquan Cartledge ordered held without bail
The second man charged with the death of Orlando Silver III was ordered held without bail as the case against him continues.
Cinquan Cartledge was charged with second-degree murder for Silver’s murder. Marquette Tibbs, Cartledge’s co-defendant is also being held without bail.
Cartledge is due to appear in court on May 19.
Man charged with murder of Marcus Manor pleads not guilty
The man charged with the murder of Marcus Manor pleaded not guilty to three charges surrounding the case in D.C. Superior Court on Tuesday.
Demetrius Brandon and Kevin Chase were indicted by a grand jury on May 3. Chase was previously arrested in the case and has been held without bond. Brandon was arrested Monday and indicted on first-degree murder while armed, accessory after the fact and possession of a firearm during a crime of violence.
Chase also pleaded not guilty, and was due for a jury trial to start next month. In lieu of the new charges and additional defendant, the date has been suspended.
Both Chase and Brandon are due to appear in court on May 12.
25-year-old man killed Tuesday afternoon
Police have confirmed a shooting yesterday in Southwest has resulted in the death of a 25-year-old man.
Police responded to a shooting in the 100 block of Irvington St., SW Tuesday afternoon. There they found Damonta Thompson suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Thompson was taken to the hospital where he died from his injuries.
Police have not yet released any suspect information.
Cinquan Cartledge charged in November 2016 murder
Police on Monday charged Cinquan Cartledge with Orlando Donald Silver III’s murder last November.
Cartledge is the second man to be charged in this case. On the day of Silver’s shooting, police arrested and charged Marquette Tibbs. Tibbs is still being held without bail as he awaits the results of a grand jury investigation.
Cartledge is expected to be presented in Superior Court Tuesday afternoon.
Second man charged with October 2015 homicide
Police have charged a second man with the murder of Marcus Manor.
Manor was killed in October 2015. Police on Monday announced the arrest of Demetrius Lavale Brandon. Brandon was charged with first-degree murder while armed.
Following Manor’s homicide, Kevin Chase was also arrested and charged with his murder. Chase originally had a trial scheduled for June of this year, but the date has been removed pending new details regarding Brandon’s arrest.

Man found fatally shot on Benning Road sidewalk
A 36-year-old man was killed in the early morning on Friday.
Police are investigating the fatal shooting of Michael Dupree Price. Price was found unconscious on the sidewalk in the area the 4600 block of Benning Rd., SE a little before 5 a.m. Price appeared to have been shot multiple times. Price was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Police have not yet released any suspect information.
Suspects charged in infant’s death ordered held without bail
The two suspects charged with the murder of a 7-week-old baby were ordered held without bail Friday.
Trischelle Jabore, 26, and Jay Crowder, 33, were presented in Superior Court Friday afternoon. Both are charged with first-degree murder for Trinity Jabore’s death last December.
The baby died Dec. 25, 2015 and an autopsy last month ruled the cause of death was homicide. Jabore and Crowder were arrested Friday.
Baby’s death ruled a homicide, two suspects charged
The death of a 7-week-old infant has been ruled a homicide, and police announced the arrest of two people on Friday charged with her murder.
According to police, Trinity Jabore was found unconscious on Dec. 25, 2016, by officer’s responding to a report of an unconscious infant. The baby was taken to the hospital and pronounced dead.
An autopsy revealed the child’s cause of death was malnutrition and hyponatremia. A secondary cause of death was trauma to the baby’s body.
Trischelle Jabore, 26, and Jay Crowder, 33, were arrested on Friday and charged with first-degree murder for the baby’s death. The relation of the two suspects to the baby was not made immediately available.

Mark Beasley’s case scheduled for trial this summer
The man charged with the murder of Darryn Conte is scheduled to have his case go to trial over two years after he was first arrested.
Mark Beasley has been held since last May on charges he shot and killed Conte. His case was originally set to go to trial last summer, but was pushed after delays in DNA testing. When the case was discussed last June, prosecutors said they expect the trial to last two weeks.
Conte was killed April 26, 2015 in the 400 block of Butternut St., NW. A trial readiness hearing has been scheduled for May 12, with a trial start date of June 26.
