During a May 1 hearing, a DC Superior Court judge ordered a defendant to be held in the custody of the city’s mental institution.
Tanisha Stevens, 38, is charged with simple assault and destruction of property less than $1,000 for an incident that occurred on the 1100 block of 8th Street, NE, on Aug. 11, 2019. Stevens allegedly assaulted the victim in a menacing manner, according to court documents.
During the defendant’s May 1 hearing, Stevens was sent to St. Elizabeth’s hospital, DC’s psychiatric institution by DC Superior Court Judge Michael Ryan.
