DC Superior Court Judge Juliet McKenna decided May 29 to continue a hearing so a defendant could decide if he wanted to accept a plea offer.
Demetrius Golden is charged with assault with a dangerous weapon for shooting a man he had a physical confrontation with on March 26.
Judge McKenna also denied Golden’s verbal motion for release.
Golden is being held without bail.
Another hearing is scheduled for June 26.
