Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) detectives are investigating a traffic fatality that resulted from a hit and run on June 19.
The pedestrian, 35-year-old Pedro Diaz Flora, was struck by a Nissan Altima.
According to a press release, preliminary investigation revealed that, at around 3:27 a.m., Flora walked southbound on the west sidewalk of Georgia Avenue before walking west to east to cross over Georgia Avenue.
The Nissan Altima was traveling northbound in the 5700 block of Georgia Avenue, NW. The vehicle fled after colliding with Flora, who was ultimately pronounced dead at a local hospital.
