Document: Suspect, 16, Arrested in Connection with Eight Offenses

On Dec. 28, the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) arrested a 16 year-old suspect in connection with several offenses involving assault and robbery charges. He is being charged as an adult.

Four of the incidents happened in Northwest, DC. The other four happened in Northeast, DC.

The first incident happened on Dec. 15. At around 2:06 p.m., the suspect entered an establishment on the 4800 block of Nannie Helen Burroughs Avenue, NE, according to a press release. He then allegedly brandished a handgun, demanded money from the register, threatened the victim, took property and fled the scene. 

No injuries were reported. The suspect was arrested for assault with a dangerous weapon/armed robbery in connection with this incident.

The next day, at around 5:24 p.m., the suspect approached the victim on the 1300 block of 10th Street, NW. He then allegedly brandished a handgun and demanded the victim’s property. The victim complied and the suspect fled the scene.

Later that day, at about 7:08 p.m., the suspect approached the victim in the 1400 block of 12th Street, NW. Again, he then allegedly brandished a handgun and demanded the victim’s property. The victim complied and the suspect fled the scene.

The suspect was arrested for armed robbery in connection with these two incidents.

On Dec. 21 at about 1:38 p.m., the suspect approached the victim in an establishment on the 4600 block of Sheriff Road, NE. He then allegedly brandished handguns, threatened the victim and then fled the scene. No injuries were reported.

The next day, at about 3:36 a.m., the suspect allegedly approached the victim on the 4200 block of Minnesota Avenue, NE, brandished a handgun and demanded money. The victim complied and the suspect fled the scene. For this, he was arrested for armed robbery.

The next day, at about 3:54 a.m., the suspect allegedly went into an establishment on the 4800 block of Nannie Helen Burroughs Avenue, NE, brandished a handgun, took property and then fled the scene. For this he was arrested for armed robbery.

The suspect was also arrested for armed robbery in connection with two incidents that happened on Dec. 28, the day he was ultimately apprehended.

At around 4:51 p.m., the suspect entered an establishment on the 1500 block of 7th Street, NW. He then allegedly brandished a handgun and demanded money. The victims complied and the suspect fled the scene.

About eight minutes later, the suspect allegedly went into an establishment on the 1100 block of 7th Street, NW, brandished a handgun and demanded money from the register. The victim complied and the suspect fled the scene.
