The Metropolitan Police Department’s (MPD) Major Crash Unit is seeking the public’s assistance in the investigation of a traffic fatality that happened on June 24 on the 3600 block of Benning Road, NE.
According to MPD documents, an adult male pedestrian was struck by a vehicle near an exit ramp to Interstate 295 as he was traveling outside of any marked crosswalk. An unknown vehicle struck him, and fled the scene. The victim was transported to a local hospital to receive treatment, where he succumbed to his injuries on June 27.
The victim has been identified as 60-year-old Samuel Walker.
