A possible change of venue for homicide trial

DC Superior Court Judge Michael Ryan was asked by the prosecution to dismiss a three-defendant homicide case so that the case could be tried in District Court during a hearing on June 26.  Malik Bynum, 25, Mark Fletcher III, 26, and Larry White, 24 are charged with conspiracy, robbery while armed offences committed during release, first-degree murder while armed offences committed during release, possession of a firearm during a crime of violence offences committed during release, and unlawful possession of a firearm (prior crime of violence) offenses committed during release for their alleged involvement in the shooting of 21-year-old Rosendo Miller. Two of Three Homicide Co-Defendants Waive Right for DNA Testing

On March 8, two homicide co-defendants waived their right to independently test DNA evidence while the third asserted his option before DC Superior Court Judge Maribeth Raffinan.  Mark Fletcher III, 23, 22-year-old Malik Bynum, and 22-year-old Larry White are charged with conspiracy, first-degree murder while armed and possession of a firearm during a crime of violence, among other charges, for their alleged involvement in the fatal shooting of 21-year-old Rosendo Miller, 21. Homicide Defendant Awaits Ballistics Testing Results

During a May 19 status hearing, the defense in a murder case updated the status of ballistics testing and requested a new hearing date to present the results.  Mark Fletcher, 19, is charged with second-degree murder while armed for allegedly shooting Travis Barksdale, 25, on the 600 block of Evarts Street, NE in August of 2018.  The defense said ballistics testing is published based on trial date and Fletcher’s trial is set for Jan. Prosecution Sends Criminal Investigators to Extract Bodily Fluids from Homicide Co-Defendants without Defense Counsel’s Knowledge

Defense attorneys are outraged over the prosecution’s decision to collect co-defendants’ DNA without informing defense counsel beforehand.  Mark Fletcher, 22, Malik Bynum, 22, and Larry White, 21, are charged with first-degree murder while armed in connection to the fatal robbery of 21-year-old Rosendo Miller on July 2, 2021, on the1300 block of Brentwood Road, NE.  The Friday hearing began with the prosecution assuring DC Superior Court Judge Maribeth Raffinan that an indictment would be filed before December. Judge Holds Three Homicide Co-Defendants During Presentments

A DC Superior Court judge held three homicide defendants during presentments on July 3.  Co-defendants Malik Bynum, 21, Mark Fletcher III, 21, and Larry White, 20, are charged with first-degree murder while armed in the shooting of 21-year-old Rosado Miller on the 1300 block of Brentwood Road, NE.  After deciding that all three defendants should be held at DC Jail, Judge Juliet McKenna scheduled their next hearings for July 22.  Judge Mckenna also held a domestic violence defendant who is charged with simple assault, destruction of property, violating a Civil Protection Order and contempt.
