Stabbing Defendant Sentenced to 54 Months in Hat Dispute
A stabbing defendant was sentenced to 54 months of imprisonment by DC Superior Court Judge Judith Pipe during a hearing on June 27. Tanade Warsame, 33, was convicted of assault with significant bodily injury while armed and contempt for his involvement in the stabbing of an individual on May 4, 2024 on the 600 block of I Street NW. According to court documents, the victim claimed that the altercation started over a dispute over a $10 hat which read “I ♥ MILFS” that the defendant sold to the victim. During the hearing, there was some confusion over whether or not the defendant would be charged with robbery, but Judge Pipe ruled that the charge would be treated as a misdemeanor. “He failed to truly accept responsibility with what happened,” the prosecution asserted.
