A DC Superior Court judge continued a March 22 hearing for a homicide defendant.

Bratrell Hawkins, 28,  is charged with second-degree murder while armed in the shooting of 26-year-old Xavier Tate on the 1400 block of 3rd Street, SW on Jan. 5, 2020.

The prosecution said she wanted to discuss matters regarding the exchange of information about the case with Judge Michael Ryan.

After a private discussion, Judge Ryan decided to continue the hearing, which will ultimately decide if the case has enough evidence to go to trial, to May 25.
