A DC Superior Court judge declared a defendant competent to stand trial during a hearing on June 22.
Tyquell Fields is charged with assault with a dangerous weapon. Fields allegedly shot someone on the 1300 block of Clay Terrace, NE, on March 18.
On May 20, Fields underwent a psychiatric evaluation where doctors deemed him mentally competent.
The prosecutor and defense attorney had no objections towards this ruling.
Fields is scheduled to appear in court again on Sept. 15.
