Judge finds probable cause to hold Donald Hairston without bail

A judge ruled probable cause exists to hold Donald Hairston held without bail until his next hearing on July 1.

Hairston has been charged with his ex-girlfriend’s murder.

Hairston’s attorney argued that there was not enough evidence or witness information to justify holding him. The government argued that Hairston has repeated criminal convictions in the past, some related to firearm possession and violations. The victim, Stephanie Goodloe, had also filed a restraining order against Hairston days before she was found shot to death in her home.

The judge ruled Hairston was a danger to the community and would be held without bail.

“I base that not only on his record, but also on the documented allegations,” the judge said, referencing the alleged restraining order violation.

Judge Raymond also ordered a stay away order regarding to Goodloe’s 11-year-old daughter. In her restraining order request, Goodloe had requested Hairston not go near the child’s school.

Hairston is scheduled to return to court on July 1.
