A judge allowed a murder defendant to be absent from his court proceeding on Dec. 9. Gregory Antwan Washington is charge with first-degree murder while armed for his involvement in the shooting of 32-year-old Alie Labay on the 900 block of 21st Street, NE in October. Defense attorney Ronald Resetarits said Washington’s presence was waived because his preliminary hearing was being reschedled and his presence was not necessary. DC Superior Court Judge Danya Dayson granted both parties request to reschedule the preliminary hearing. The preliminary hearing is scheduled for Jan. 16, 2020. Follow this case
