DC Superior Court Judge Juliet McKenna decided May 29 to set a preliminary hearing date and she also denied a verbal motion for release.
William Cox is charged with unlawful possession of firearms with a prior conviction.
Cox is being held without bail.
Another hearing is scheduled for June 19.
