On July 14, a DC Superior Court judge scheduled a hearing to determine if a murder case has enough evidence to go to trial.
James Harper Jr., 38, is charged with second-degree murder while armed in the shooting of 39-year-old Bret Desmarteau on the 100 block of Sheridan Street, NE, on May 27.
Judge Milton Lee scheduled the preliminary hearing for Aug. 3.
