The man charged with the alleged murder of Corrina Mehiel has been scheduled to undergo a mental observation.

El Hadji Alpha Madiou Toure was arrested and charged with first-degree murder while armed and theft in March, when Mehiel was found in her apartment with multiple apparent stab wounds. According to certain evidence, the wounds suggest Mehiel was tortured before she died. Evidence also suggests Toure stole thousands of dollars from Mehiel’s bank account.

Judge Lyn Leibovitz found probable cause for murder in April during the preliminary hearing or Toure.

In a hearing Thursday morning, Toure was informed he will be speaking with a social worker until his next appearance on July 10.
