A man convicted of simple assault was sentenced to serve 18 months on probation.
Wayne Robinson pleaded guilty to simple assault and second-degree theft in February. He was sentenced to 180 days in prison for the assault charge and 90 days for the theft charge, but the time for both charges was suspended.
Robinson will also have to pay $50 to the Victims of Violent Crime Act (VVCA) fund and undergo drug and alcohol testing, enter a drug and alcohol treatment programs, maintain or seek employment, and adhere to a stay away order.
According to his sentence, probation may be unsupervised after one year along with successful completion of treatment services and payment to the fund.
According to court documents, Robinson stole a victim’s car key and placed his hands around the victim’s neck.
