A DC Superior Court judge arraigned a murder defendant on six counts.

Gregory Washington is charged with first-degree murder while armed, first-degree burglary while armed and possessing a firearm during a crime of violence. The 31-year-old is accused of shooting 32-year-old Alie Labay on Oct. 24, 2019, on the 900 block of 21st Street, NE.

Washington rejected a plea deal that would have allowed him to plead down to second-degree murder while armed. The offer was set to expire on Sept. 20.

Judge Dayna Dayson scheduled the trial to begin on May 31, 2022. Parties expect the trial to take two weeks.
