The defense attorney for a man charged in connection with a March 31 homicide told a DC Superior Court judge that plea negotiations are ongoing.
Tarik Turner is charged with second-degree murder while armed in the shooting of 28-year-old Keosha Ferguson.
During the Sept. 2 hearing, defense attorney Quo Judkins said she thinks parties are getting closer to a potential disposition.
With this in mind, Judge Juliet McKenna continued the hearing to Oct. 8.
According to court documents, on the afternoon of March 31, Metropolitan Police Department officers were dispatched to the 1300 block of Congress Street, SE, for the report of a shooting. There, they found four people suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Two of them sustained non-life-threatening injuries. However, Ferguson and 25-year-old George Evans III succumbed to their injuries.
Turner, 26, is not charged in connection with Evans’ death.
