Police have charged a man with the murder of Herbert Dowtin last month.
Malik Hough, 21, was arrested and charged with second-degree murder for allegedly shooting Dowtin on Dec. 27.
According to police, Dowtin was found in the 800 block of Xenia St. SE, suffering from gunshot wounds. Dowtin was taken to the hospital where he died from his injuries.
Police had released videos asking for the public’s help in finding a person of interest in Dowtin’s shooting, which have since been taken down.
On Saturday, Hough was presented in D.C. Superior Court. He was ordered held, and preliminary hearing was set for Jan. 17.
