On June 26, a defendant pleaded guilty to second-degree murder.  Khamari Perkins, 22, was charged with first-degree murder while armed and possession of a firearm during a crime of violence for his alleged involvement in the fatal shooting of 18-year-old Naseem Simpson on the 3000 block of 14th Street, N.W., on March 15, 2020. Co-Defendants Plead Guilty in 2022 Assault Case 

On June 15, DC Superior Court Judge Maribeth Raffinan heard two co-defendants in a 2022 case plead guilty to aggravated assault and possession of a firearm.  Jinmar Fuentes, 22, and Martel Howard, 23, allegedly assaulted two brothers on July 31, 2022 on the 2000 block of 14th Street, NW in a robbery attempt.  According to court documents, Fuentes approached one of the brothers with a loaded firearm. Dirk Easton, 27, was appointed a new attorney on May 31 in a non-fatal shooting case where he allegedly assaulted several individuals The defendant was charged with assault with intent to kill while armed on May 16.  The incident took place on May 13, when the defendant allegedly shot at the windshield of a retreating vehicle with a handgun on the 1700 block of M Street, NW.
