A second man charged for his role in a robbery that led to the shooting death of Matthew Shevlin last year has pled guilty to second-degree murder as part of a plea deal.
Eugene Sherman, 53, was one of three men charged after Shevlin was shot in a botched marijuana robbery at Shevlin’s apartment.
Sherman will be sentenced on March 10. According to the U.S. Attorney’s office, Sherman plotted to break into Shevlin’s apartment to steal marijuana, and “enlisted the help” of Joseph Jennings and David Harvey. Jennings, who has since been sentenced to 24 years for fatally shooting Shevlin, and Harvey broke into the building. Shelvin fled from the building, and Jennings chased Shevlin and then shot him multiple times.
Sherman will be sentenced on March 10 as part of the plea deal. The case against Harvey, also charged with murder, is still pending. Previously, Sherman pleaded in court for Harvey to be released, saying he orchestrated the robbery.
