Nykia “Kia” Henderson is a student at Howard University, majoring in Political Science and minoring in Legal Communications. Originally from Springfield, Illinois, Kia has a deep interest in the legal system and how policies affect communities. She chose to intern at D.C. Witness to gain practical experience in legal reporting and to be part of the critical work of documenting crime and justice in Washington, D.C. Through this internship, Kia aims to deepen her understanding of criminal justice and prepare for a future career in law and public service.
