Yana Patel is a sophomore at American University majoring in Political Science and Sociology. She chose to intern at D.C. Witness to build on her prior experience observing courtroom proceedings and to gain a deeper understanding of the criminal justice system. At D.C. Witness, Yana hopes to improve on her writing and analytic skills while engaging closely with the legal process. After college, she hopes to pursue a career in law and aims to apply the skills and insights she develops through this internship to her future work.
