The man charged with the murder of Tracy Jones rejected a plea deal, and the case against him will now move to trial.
Tyreke Chambers is now scheduled for a trial beginning Nov. 13, 2018.
If Chambers pleaded guilty, the government would cap the sentence to a maximum of 10 years.
Chambers was arrested on Dec. 7, 2015 for the alleged murder of Jones.
Chambers allegedly fatally stabbed Jones with a knife while attempting to rob him on Feb. 4, 2015. Jones was found on the 2400 block of Alabama Avenue, SE and taken to Prince George’s Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
Chamberst is charged with first-degree murder while armed and is currently being held with no bond.
The government also subpoenaed a witness who was ordered to return back to court for next year’s trial.
A status hearing is scheduled for March 9, 2018.
