On May 1, judges at the DC Superior Courthouse released five inmates.

There were seven hearings that were not in relation to emergency releases because of COVID-19.

Three were status hearings where a judge ordered that two defendants should receive medical attention and one defendant needs to be able to communicate with their attorney.

There were two bond review hearings where a judge did not rule on a release but required that the defendants be able to communicate with their attorneys. Two mental observation hearings were scheduled in error.

Three bench warrants were issued for defendants who had pretrial and probation show cause hearings scheduled.

Two hearings were rescheduled, and two hearings were vacated.

Two defendants were released in one case but held in another

One bond review hearing had no action taken.

Judges denied three releases.

In total there were 26 defendants that had cases. A majority of the cases were for bond review hearings. You can read about each case on dcwitness.org.
