DC Superior Court Judge Danya Dayson ordered a defendant to pay a $100 bail for assaulting a  corrections officer.

Johnathan Waddell, 21, could choose between the bail or be released on personal recognizance. He chose the bail because it would allow him to receive credit toward his sentence.

He is currently serving a 12 month sentence for attempt to commit robbery and robbery while armed. He is also required to pay $200 to the victim’s of violent crime fund. The payment is due by the end of October in 2021.

On April 23, at around 3:30 a.m., Waddell was found giving food trays to random cells in the Department of Corrections Central Detention Facility.

He ignored an officer’s instruction to return to his cell and pushed him, according to court documents.

Waddell’s next hearing is scheduled for Aug. 6.
