On July 23, a defendant entered into an agreement with the prosecution.
Jesse Shapiro pleaded guilty to attempted possession of an unregistered firearm for carrying a gun without a license on the 700 block of North Capitol Street, NW on June 9. He signed the Deferred Sentencing Agreement on July 22.
As part of the agreement, Shapiro must complete twenty hours of community service and pay $50 to the Victims of Violent Crime fund within six months. If he meets the terms, his guilty plea will be withdrawn and his case dismissed.
If Shapiro fails to meet the terms or violates any law during the six-month period, he could serve up to 180 days in jail and pay up to a $1,000 fine.
DC Superior Court Judge William Nooter scheduled a hearing to evaluate Shapiro’s progress for Jan. 22, 2021.
