For the last five years, D.C. Witness has tracked every homicide in D.C. from act to resolution. There have been more than 1,000 of them.
Other media outlets choose which cases to cover.
D.C. Witness does not believe journalists should get to choose which life is worth telling.
As 2020 ends, D.C.’s homicide rate is rising, and there are hundreds of cases backlogged in the court system. D.C. Witness is ready to cover every one of those cases when they come to court next year because every victim deserves to be remembered.
But, we are non-profit and non-partisan. We have never asked for reader support, but we need your support to fully deliver this influential information next year.
