The case against Sean Baker, charged with the fatal stabbing of Robert Wiggins, has been dismissed.
On Jan. 31 of 2016, 35-year-old Robert Wiggins died after being stabbed in the heart in the apartment he shared with Baker. Court documents show that Wiggins and Baker were romantically involved. In the charging documents, Baker told police that the two were arguing after he accused her of stealing his wallet. During the argument, Baker and Wiggins ended up wrestling for a knife on the ground and Wiggins was stabbed. The defense argued that Baker stabbed him out of self-defense.
Baker was released on bond and placed into the high intensity supervision program (HISP). As the case continued, Baker attended a drug and alcohol rehabilitation center in West Virginia. Since she was continuously tested negative in her drug tests, the judge rewarded her for “good behavior” and she was able to attend a local place for treatment.
Baker was initially charged with intent to kill, but the charges were upgraded to second-degree murder while armed when Wiggins died from his injuries.
Her trial was originally set to March 14, 2018.
