On May 26, judges at the DC Superior Courthouse did not release any inmates.

There were two hearings that were in relation to emergency releases because of COVID-19.

Four hearings were continued.

Brandon Bacchus was found competent to stand trial.

A bench warrant was issued for Isaiah Allen who didn’t show up for his pretrial show cause hearing.

A probation show cause hearing was also continued, so that Dajuan Blakney could get into compliance with his release conditions.

Ernest Moody pleaded guilty to simple assault, threats to do bodily harm and destruction of property less than $1,000. He was sentenced to serve 18 months on probation

Judges denied four releases, including the release of Edward Banks. He pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter for the death of 45-year-old Abraham Binn at a homeless shelter on the 2700 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue, SE on Aug. 20.

In total there were 10 defendants whose cases were heard on May 26. You can read about each case on dcwitness.org.
