A defendant entered a plea deal for simple assault on June 16.

On July 14, 2017, Curtis Dempsey, 54, was charged with simple assault and possession of a prohibited weapon. According to court documents, he took out a knife and cut a victim. On March 9, he was also charged with a bail violation for failing to appear in court.

As part of a plea agreement with the prosecution, Dempsey’s other charges were dropped.

DC Superior Court Judge John McCabe released Dempsey. He must pay a fine towards the Victims Violent Crime fund.
