Detective Timothy Francis, who had 20 years of dedicated service with the Metropolitan Police Department and was most recently assigned to the Homicide Unit’s Natural Squad, has died.
Francis was fatally shot in a domestic-related homicide on Nov. 27 in Charles County, Md. The suspect was also found dead on the scene. The case is currently under investigation by the Charles County Sheriff’s Office.
“Mourning the tragic loss of our colleague and friend is extremely difficult,” said Chief Peter Newsham.” Detective Francis spent two decades protecting the community from violence, and to learn that he was the victim of a homicide is heartbreaking.”
