Document: Police Arrest Man for Child Sex Abuse

A Washington, DC man was arrested and charged with first-degree child sex abuse on June 7.

The arrest is in relation to an incident that occurred on May 27 in which the 18-year-old male defendant approached a female, who was 10 years old, in an apartment complex on 3600 block of Hayes Street, NE. The victim was carrying multiple bags.

According to a court documents, the victim told the suspect that she was leaving the home of one parent to go live with another. The suspect offered to help carry her items. The victim followed the suspect into another apartment building.

The suspect allegedly grabbed the victim’s private parts and forcibly engaged in sexual relations.

Police later apprehended the suspect, along with three other people, on June 7 for driving a green Honda that was presumably stolen. An unregistered weapon was also found in the car. The suspect also told police that he took a bag with a Playstation console in it.

The defendant is being detained at a department of youth rehabilitation services facility. He is scheduled for a hearing on Aug, 4.
