Document: Police Arrest Suspect in Burglary

Officers from the Metropolitan Police Department arrested May 20 a 48-year-old man for burglary two and destruction of property.

According to a press release, the suspect broke a basement window to gain entry into a bar on the 600 block of T Street, NW around 10 a.m.

The suspect is seen on camera taking assorted liquor bottles, alcohol products and a camera bag with a camera lens inside, according to court documents.

During the investigation, police recovered one full bottle of an Italian imported beer, Birra Dolomiti Pils. Two empty bottles of the same beer were in a park located near the crime scene. Police were not able to recover the camera bag or lens.

According to DC Superior Court, the suspect is facing misdemeanor charges for unlawful entry to private property, second-degree theft and destruction of property less than $1,000.

The suspect is scheduled for another hearing on Aug. 20. It is not clear if the suspect is being held or was released.
